Here are some essential dos and don’ts to help your resume shine: 

 

Dos: 

 

Include Relevant Skills and Tools 

Use industry keywords to catch recruiters’ attention. 

For example, software engineers should highlight web development, while data analysts might emphasize data visualization and analysis. 

 

Show Experience Longevity 

Indicate how long you’ve been in specific roles. This gives recruiters a clear picture of your career progression. 

 

Highlight Certifications and Training 

Showcase relevant certifications to validate your skills and stand out from other applicants. 

 

Provide Relevant Work Samples 

Include links of your portfolio or projects. Demonstrating your work visually can make a great impression.  

 

Don’ts: 

 

Avoid Complicated Designs 

Keep it simple and professional. Use clean fonts like Calibri or Arial and stick to a readable format. 

 

Don’t Write a Novel 

Keep your resume to 1-2 pages. Focus on relevant experience and accomplishments without unnecessary details.
