# 5 Tips on Revising Resumes for Modern Platforms

Employers can receive hundreds of applications for a role during the recruitment process. Resume parsing helps can save time by highlighting candidates whose qualifications are preferred. If your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, important details may be missed. Here's a few tips that may help improve your resume layout.

1. Simple Format  
   Avoid complicated layouts, text boxes, and graphics. Use proper labeling of sections like Work Experience, Education, and Skills.
2. Relevant Keywords  
   Scan the job description for terms and skills, then add them in naturally in your resume.
3. Use Standard Fonts and File Types  
   Fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman are may be easier for ATS software to read. Share your resume as a .docx or PDF (unless the employer specifies otherwise).
4. Consistency  
   Use a consistent format for dates and write job titles/descriptors similarly throughout the resume.
5. Avoid Uncommon Abbreviations  
   Spell out acronyms at least once—for example, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)—so the system understands them.

### Things to keep in mind:

- Avoid overloading your resume with keywords.
- Avoid adding too much images instead of text.
- Did you leave out important sections like skills or contact details?
- Save your resume in an easy to read format.

Understanding how the recruitment process and resume parsing works gives you an advantage in today’s digital hiring process. By keeping your resume clear, relevant, and ATS-friendly, you make it easier to understand your expertise, skills, and fit.
