When handled thoughtfully, it doesn’t have to harm their chances. Here are three tips to help jobseekers communicate it professionally. 1. **Notify the Interviewer Promptly** It’s good courtesy for jobseekers to inform the recruiter or hiring manager once they are sure they can’t attend the scheduled interview. Providing prior notice shows respect for the employer’s time. 2. **Keep the Message Honest** A brief explanation may be sufficient. While there may be no need to get into the details, it would be polite to share why the interview schedule is being rescheduled.  3. **Provide Alternative Dates and Times** To help move things forward jobseekers may offer alternative time slots that work for them. Being flexible and proactive helps make a good impression and shows communication skills. --- While moving the schedule of an upcoming interview isn't the most ideal, it is understandable that at times, jobseekers may be required to reschedule.
